DIY Antibacterial Spray

Hey Mamas. Let’s be honest - how many times have you gone to the grocery store in eager expectation of finding an antibacterial spray only to be met with yet another shelf? Once? Twice? Did you lose count?

Don’t worry, we got you covered. 

It is no secret that COVID-19 has caused shortages throughout entire industries but just because there are shortages, doesn’t mean you and your family have to go without. We came across this simple DIY formula from Pop Sugar and had to share. 

Not only is this formula super easy to make, but it is also eco friendly. 

Here’s what you need: 

• 3 cups water
• 1/2 cup white vinegar
• Spray bottle
• Funnel (optional)
• 15 drops lavender or tea tree essential oil

Simply take the water and vinegar and mix them both together. The funnel is optional if you are pouring into a small entryway. Next, add the essential oils. We recommend using lavender for calming atmospheres like your bedroom or playroom. Use tea tree oil for active areas like your kitchen or bathroom. 

This easy to make spray is the perfect cleaning spray for our Famokids play mat. With just a few sprays and a quick wipe, your play mat is completely clean in a sustainable way. 

Other natural antibacterial ingredients that you can find around your house if you don’t have the listed ingredients above, are lemon, vodka, and hydrogen peroxide. Another amazing natural cleaner is steam. Believe it or not, steam (when at 200 degrees) helps kill germs across many surfaces. Castile soap and distilled water are also great ingredients to add on or substitute. 

Having to think outside of the box and using what you have has become a norm during this pandemic.
